Doctoral Fellow in Political Science (GASPAR Group), Ghent University

I am a Doctoral Fellow in Political Science at Ghent University, working on the FWO project “When Policy Hits Home: Understanding Losers’ Consent in the Context of Salient Policy Decisions.” My research examines the mechanisms that shape political support following policy decisions, particularly when those decisions are contested, unpopular, or impose tangible costs on citizens. Understanding when and why citizens consent to policy decisions has direct implications for how governments design and communicate reform, connecting the theoretical ambitions of this project to my prior applied policy work.

Before beginning my PhD, I worked as a Research Associate with the Development Economics Research Group (DERG) at the University of Copenhagen, based in Nairobi, where I examined domestic revenue mobilization, taxpayer behavior, and green value chains. In collaboration with an international group of researchers, I produced technical papers and advised government officials. My field research in Sub-Saharan Africa has included work in Zambia, Tanzania, and the Lake Turkana region of Northern Kenya.

I hold an M.Sc. in Global Development from the University of Copenhagen and a B.A. from the Gonzaga University Honors Program in international relations, political science, and Spanish, with a minor from the Hogan Entrepreneurial Leadership Program.
